SUMMER EVENING SERVICE IDEAS

Well, here comes summer. Sunday evening worship times seem
to grow smaller. What can you, the Music Worship Leader do to
keep the folks coming? Well, here are some off the wall ideas, but
if you get the folks present and plan to lead them into God's presence,
then these ideas will be ok. Ask the preacher!

1. One night do a, Name that Hymn. Play a little, the first to name the tune gets a little bag of cookies from the best cookie maker in
the church. However, they also must sing the first verse with the
you!

2. Tell the stories of a couple of the hymns just before you sing them. Go to creativeworshipservice.com, in the Drama Section, in
the first entry you will find stories.

3. Have several people ready to do a special that will surprise the folks. A child (might play the piano), a youth (who plays in the band play their instrument), a family might sing, a Senior Adult sings a solo, or duet, or quartet and they might all sing the melody.

4. One night a month have a Favorite Hymn Night. Surprise them by calling the person who names the tune to come up and sing with you.
Yes, and you might, again, give a bag of cookies, or some other surprise.
Be sure to ask them why it's a favorite for this may give you testimonies.

5. You might invite someone from another church, or a trio, or a quartet. Advertise for a few weeks. Make sure they understand it is a free time unless you all want to take an offering. MIGHT HAVE ICE CREAM OR WATERMELONS AFTER THE SERVICE.

6. There are 22 Sermon in Songs in that section of creativeworship
services.com. What is a Sermon in Song? Well, the preacher goes and
looks at the Sermon in Songs and picks one. He preaches, then stops
and the congregation sings a hymn. He preaches and they sing again.
Suggest. Go to that section and hit your print. It will print the page
and you can give it to the pastor. When he picks two or three then
go to them and print them off. Now, he can make his decision.

7. Swap places with your pastor. Yes, he leads the music and you
preach. Sure, it would be a hoot!

8. Or, how about your wives do your jobs. Your wife lead the music and the pastors wife preach. Wow, let me know when you do this.
You might even have the wives of the deacons take up the offering.

9. Change the "place" for the service. The fellowship Hall with home made ice-cream. Have testimonies planned. Several specials would be great. Before it gets to hot, go to the lake, or someones pond. Have times of silence, just enjoying God's creation.

10. Go and worship with another church and then they come and
worship with you. You and the pastor lead at their church and their
pastor and music worship leader lead at yours.

11. Call some of the folks, that are present, to come up and join you to make a quartet or a trio. Call up two women and another man. Or, three women for a trio. Do a song like The Solid Rock wherever body sings melody the first verse, then ladies the second, the men the third, and all the last. Other songs like, When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder, When We All Get To Heaven, I Know Whom I Have Believed,

12. Do an echo hymn like No, Not One! Those seated on left side of the of the worship center sing the phrases and those on the right answer with the phrase of the same words.
Example: No Not One
Left side sings: There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus
Right side answers: No not one, no not one.
Left side sings: None else could heal all our soul's diseases
Right side answers: No not one, no not one.
All sing the Refrain.

Other ideas:
Since Jesus Came Into My Heart
Soon and Very Soon
I'll Fly Away
God Will Take Care of You

I hope these ideas have stimulated you mind and heart as they help
you open them to the Holy Spirit and find what God and Christ want.

Congradulation on your calling to lead the service in music. Just think
in a year of morning and evening services, averaging 75, you have
blessed 7800 people. Can you believe your blessings in heaven?

GOD BLESS YOU MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST!
