If you were to try to guess what occupation, I as a hymn writer and, it would take you forever. In my later, mature years, I finally settled in to being a clown. Yes, for Barnum and Bailey monstrous circus took 85 railroad box cars to transport the over 1000 workers and equipment. What a time we had all over the nation.

Later, I started my own circus and it was going great until a fire burned the big top and all the equipment. Well, then I went and joined Buffalo Bills famous Wild West Show. Through all of this I was able to use my abilities, magic, acting, ventriloquist, singing and writing. I could play any instrument you gave me so I stayed busy, but a good businessman I wasn't and when I got old I had no money.

I ended up living in a forsaken schoolhouse. While attending a church nearby, I realized that God had put a stop to my work so I would pay attention to His message and preparation for my eternal life with Him. One night, all alone, except my most important friend, I wrote,

There's a land beyond the river,
That we call the sweet forever,
And we only reach that shore by faith's decree;
One by one we'll gain the portals,
There to dwell with the immortals,
when they ring those gold bells for you and me.
