(Have a time of prayer and forgiveness first to
prepare the peoples hearts.)

(Use Mimes, or Clowns. Dark Clothes, white faces)

Clown#1 comes down the center isle. Has a red ‘reminder’ ribbon tied on it’s finger….can’t figure out what the ribbon is for. Shows it to different people in the congregation…hoping they will know.

Clown #2 enters stage right….Clown #1 shows the finger with the ribbon. Both look at ribbon…..can’t figure out what it’s for.

On the stage is a box titled “God’s Gifts”. Clown #1 pulls out a figurine of Joseph and places it on the communion table. Clown # 2 pulls out a figurine of Mary and places it on the communion table. Clown #1 pulls out a manger and places it on the table. (doing this slowly so the congregations can take it all in)

Clown #2 pulls out a loaf of bread wrapped in a white baby blanket. They hug the baby and are happy to see it. Clown #2 goes to the side of the stage hugging the ‘baby’ and rocking it.

Clown #1 takes out of the box a cross and shows it to the congregation…next takes out a crown of thorns….places both on the communion table. Looks at its finger and now remembers what the ribbon was for……motions Clown #2 to come over. Convinces Clown 2 to put the ‘baby’ on the table….both then take a stake and ‘pierce’ the baby…………(silence) (Soloist sings…..”We’re you there, or “O How He loves You” or other appropriate song).

Clown then motions to Pastor & Deacons to come forward. Offers them the bread & single cup. Pastor first tears off a piece of bread and then dips it in the cup. Then it is offered to the Deacons…Pastor then motions the people to come forward and receive the communion. While people are taking the communion, sing appropriate songs ending with a ‘celebration’ type of song.

This communion service is a favorite with our church. It is simple to prepare, but the message comes across loud and strong! Be prepared for many tears.
